Cubs Winter Camp 2018 Report

30th Nov – 2nd Dec 2018, Scout Park

Winter Camp 2018 was one our Cubs won’t be forgetting about for a long time! A small group of 10, who were all great friends by the end, enjoyed an exciting programme, full of games, skills, outdoor adventure, creativity, teamwork, new activities and plenty of banter!

A huge thanks to Sami and our camp Leaders; our awesome, energetic parent helpers who we could not have gone without, and of course camp chef Des, particularly for that mouth-watering Christmas Dinner. Definitely one of the best camps we’ve had for a while!

Outdoor adventure

Scout Park is a brilliant site with plenty of trees to climb and muddy hills to slide down! For many, this was their first Cub camp, making the experience even more exciting.

Archery

Our instructor cancelled, but along came Bradley, all the way from Enfield, to the rescue!

Creativity & Skills

A skills programme was delivered on Saturday afternoon with three options: pyrography, drama in the woods and fire lighting.

We also prepared for and then delivered a beautiful Scouts Own, which the Cubs all took on board, reflecting on their own fears or things they are grateful for, as well as reading Baden Powell’s last message. On Sunday we wrote postcards to the Netherlands to fit in with our Dutch sub-themed camp.

Light Painting

Using cameras, torches and the dark, our Cubs created some impressive light paintings – here are some of our favourites.

Site Service

Looking for a good deed to do, we helped Scout Park clearing the leaves off paths.

Christmas Dinner

To end the camp off, everyone enjoyed a delicious Christmas Dinner as cooked by the awesome Des, sitting together as one big family.
